This page explains copyright, permitted linking and the conditions that apply to reuse of original ArchaeoLocus material.

Copyright notice

Unless otherwise stated, original text, maps, figures, photographs, graphics, audio, video, transcripts and other original material published on ArchaeoLocus.org are protected by copyright.

Reuse

Reproduction, republication, redistribution, adaptation, cropping, removal of watermarks or incorporation of protected ArchaeoLocus material into another publication, website, presentation, product or audiovisual work requires prior written permission except where applicable law permits otherwise or a specific item is released under a different stated licence.

Ordinary links to public ArchaeoLocus web pages are permitted and encouraged when they identify the source accurately. A link does not grant permission to copy the protected material on the linked page.

Maps and figures

Website maps and figures are public web derivatives intended for inspection and discussion. Publication-resolution masters, underlying research files and reproducibility assets are not automatically released merely because a public derivative is displayed.

Copyright in an original map or figure protects its eligible expression and presentation; it does not create ownership of historical facts, coordinates, mathematical relationships, general methods, ideas or scientific concepts as such.

Third-party material

Third-party basemaps, datasets, imagery, quotations, logos, publications and other licensed material remain subject to the rights, licences and attribution requirements of their respective owners or providers. An ArchaeoLocus copyright notice does not override those third-party rights.

Research findings and attribution

Copyright is separate from scholarly priority and attribution. Where an ArchaeoLocus finding, method, dataset or published analysis is discussed or built upon, appropriate citation and acknowledgement should follow the relevant publication, DOI, repository record or citation guidance when available.

Permission requests

For permission to reproduce or adapt ArchaeoLocus material, contact contact@archaeolocus.org and identify the exact map, figure, text, photograph, audio or video concerned, the intended use, publication or platform, expected audience and whether the proposed use is commercial.
